As college students, we all get stuck in our own heads. In the midst of running around trying to accomplish everything we need to do in order to graduate, we lose the sense of inspiration we desire. Sometimes we just need to give ourselves an hour of “me time” to get our minds back on track. Watching a Ted Talk is the perfect way to get inspired. Here are five of my favorite Ted Talks.
Regina Hartley reminds us to focus on the future instead of dwelling on the past. This is the perfect Ted Talk for anyone who thinks his or her prior experience isn’t enough. Hartley reminds us that being passionate will take you further than you think.
We place a large emphasis on what we say and how we say it, but that isn’t the only thing we should focus on. Amy Cuddy explains how important body language is, and how it can affect others’ views of you.
As public relations majors there are a variety of career paths we can take. With so many choices, it seems impossible to decide what you actually want to do. Being surrounded by individuals who have the rest of their lives figured out can be very daunting. Luckily, Emilie Wapnick talks about how not knowing what you want to do can be helpful in the long run.
One of the most daunting things in life is being wrong. This fear causes us to not speak up because we don’t want people to judge us for thinking differently. The real question is “what is so terrible about being wrong?” Kathryn Schulz explains why being wrong might not be as bad as you think.
As public relations majors, we feel the need to be involved in anything and everything we can. The one problem with the need to be involved in everything is that it causes a lot of stress. Stress is traditionally viewed as a negative component of our lives, but what if stress actually isn’t a bad thing? Maybe it’s just the way that we view stress that’s harmful.
