Why You Should Write A Blog For PRSSA

By Rose Flood

The school year has just started, and we’re all settling into a new routine. I’m sure part of that routine includes finding something to do to procrastinate working on that semester-long assignment (don’t kid yourself–you know you do it too). Most of us run to Netflix or take a nap, but I have a crazy idea for PRSSA members.

Why not write a blog for PRSSA?

I know I’ve probably rocked your world a little, but hear me out. Writing a blog for PRSSA can be whatever you want it to be.

You Can Write (Almost) Whatever You Want

It just had to be about public relations in some way! Last year, I wrote about how my cat taught me about public relations. You can write about why you chose public relations for your major. You can write about your internship and what you’ve learned. You can write about how you would have solved a public relations problem in your favorite movie. Just think something up and write!

It’s A Great Way To Get Your Writing Out There

A lot of us don’t have portfolios, especially if you’re a freshman or a sophomore. When you’re just starting out with blogging, it’s hard to tell whether or not you want to justify starting your own blog. Writing a blog for PRSSA is a great way to dip your toes in the water and see what blogging is like. You can also add your piece to your professional portfolio.

We Have A Great Chapter

We’re so blessed to be a part of a chapter where everyone encourages one another, so if you write a blog, you can bet your fellow members will read it. If they like it, maybe they’ll even share it. Your blog will also be shared on Ball State PRSSA’s Facebook and Twitter pages, so it will easily be seen. No matter what, your fellow cardinals will support you.

Hopefully by the end of this, an idea for a rocking blog has popped into your head. I can’t wait to read what all of you write!
